This guide provides a comprehensive framework for interpreting the data and graphs available through the Insight Dashboard. The guidelines are designed to ensure users can accurately understand the numbers and effectively utilize the metrics for strategic decision-making.

This update brings significant enhancements to UI/UX optimization, delivering notable improvements over the existing graphics in the data platform. Additionally, this version introduces the new
Data Acquisition Sources
The current system utilizes two main data sources because of adapting to a pre-existing ecosystem. This approach has been necessary to ensure continuity and compatibility within the Radioplayer infrastructure. However, the evolutionary goal is to replace these current sources with Radioplayer's proprietary SDK. This transition will allow for a more streamlined, accurate, and real-time data collection process, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the Insight Dashboard.

Google Firebase installed and consolidated on Mobile App iOS/Android starting from version 7.8.0.
_Note: Only devices equipped with version 7.8 or later of the Kineton app are included in the "Smartphone" category, ensuring consistency and reliability in data analytics. The data acquisition source from Firebase enables the representation of an advanced dataset with precise calculation of listening sessions, unique devices, geographic listening information, deep device data, and synchronization mechanisms._
Radioplayer SDK
Future versions will incorporate progressive changes, particularly with the expanded adoption of our SDK. This initiative aims to phase out the old RP_Insight data source, enhancing data handling efficiency. Updates will also affect how application versions are downloaded by users. In upcoming releases, new dashboards will be added to enhance data understanding.
SDK version 1.4.1 is now available for web-based applications and currently installed on the last version of connected TV apps. It is also in the process of being integrated into custom web players in France and Belgium and will be included in the new web player of Radioplayer Worldwide.
SDK Future Roadmap
- Android SDK: Under development to support Android smartphones, tablets, Android TV, Android Automotive OS apps, and other compatible devices.
- Apple iOS SDK: Under development to support iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Apple Watch integration.
- Automotive SDK: Under development to support directly integration with automotive industry
- Chromecast SDK : Being developed to integrate with Google Home smart speaker
Difference Between Old and New Insight Data
The data available in the new Insight Dashboard generally show lower absolute numerical values compared to the old RP_Insight system. This discrepancy arises due to a key structural change in data collection. The current data model does not include listening data from mobile app versions lower than 7.8, resulting in a more refined and precise dataset. However, this difference will progressively diminish as more users update their applications, leading to a gradual realignment of data over time.
Additionally, there has been a significant improvement in the accuracy of listening time calculations. The new system now determines listening duration by calculating the difference between the stop and start events of each individual listening session, ensuring a more precise measurement of user engagement.
To facilitate the understanding of data during this transition period, a dedicated dashboard will be released soon. This dashboard will allow users to consult the total data from the old RP_Insight system, with certain limitations on set of data showed, ensuring continuity in analysis while adapting to the new data model.
The category “Automotive” in the dashboard includes the “Mirroring” subcategory , referring to AndroidAuto/Carplay sessions, that in the old system were simply tracked as “Mobile Devices”, and Android Automotive OS app.
Current Dashboard Structure
The Insight Dashboard is structured into various sections that provide users with comprehensive data insights. The main sections include 4 sections focused on broadcaster manager/owner and country manager ( support) to get in touch with the new data strategy.
How Data Can Be Filtered
Several tools have been introduced to allow users to navigate data temporally, aggregate it, and filter it by different dimensions. These filters can be used together to refine analysis effectively.
Users can:
- Select specific time periods to analyze trends over time.
- Aggregate data based on different dimensions, such as station, listened country, or device.
- Combine multiple filters to generate precise and insightful reports.
This functionality enhances data accessibility and ensures that broadcasters can extract the most relevant insights for their strategic decisions.
Data Picker
The Data Picker allows users to refine their data selection within the Insight Dashboard.
- Select specific time periods for analysis (two-days ago, previous week, last 7 days, previous month, last 30 days, last 90 days or custom range).
- Compare different data sets to evaluate trends over time.
Currently, the reported data is from two days prior due to the processing and consolidation mechanisms of the Firebase acquisition source, which requires 24 to 48 hours. _The introduction of our proprietary SDK will significantly reduce this delay, allowing data to be available within a few hours._
Country Filter
The country filter is useful for selecting one or more countries when monitoring Radioplayer projects across multiple regions. This feature is particularly useful for system administrators, allowing them to filter stations of a single nation or analyze aggregated data from multiple countries.
Broadcaster Group Filter
The Broadcaster Group filter allows users to select one or more broadcaster groups. A Broadcaster Group is a collection of stations that are generally owned by the same entity or are part of a unified brand name. This feature is particularly useful for organizations managing multiple stations across different markets.
Station Filter
The station filter allows users to select one or multiple stations within the Insight Dashboard. Users can search for stations by entering letters into the search box, enabling quick and efficient filtering. This feature helps broadcasters and analysts focus on specific stations or groups of stations for more targeted data analysis.
Listen Country
Filter The listen country filter allows users to filter where one or more stations are being listened to. Users can search for countries using the search box and filter for one or multiple nations, making it easier to analyze listening trends across different geographical areas.
Device Filter
The device filter allows users to filter on which device one or more stations are being listened to. This filter works similarly to other filters, enabling users to refine data by selecting specific device categories such as mobile, smart speakers, automotive systems, or web players. By using this filter, broadcasters and analysts can analyze listening behaviors based on device type and gain insights into user engagement across different platforms. This filter is only available on dashboards relating to new insigths events.
Custom Settings Configuration
These settings are accessible via the Settings Panel , with visibility and modification rights determined by the permissions associated with the user's role.
Local Time Zone
This setting controls how timestamps are displayed based on the selected country data.
- Behavior: If enabled (
True), and the selected reporting countries share a single, unified time zone , the data will be displayed in that local time zone. If the selected countries represent multiple different time zones or if this flag is disabled (False), all time-related data defaults to the UTC+0 standard.
Favorite Station (Default Country)
This option allows administrators to set a default country to pre-populate the 'Country' filter upon application launch.
- Visibility: Only accessible to Territory Admin and Super Admin roles.
- Functionality: You may select a default country from those visible within your scope. This selection ensures the application's country filter is automatically set to your preference when starting the app.
Minimum Session Duration
This setting defines the minimum threshold required for a listening session to be considered valid for analytics purposes.
- Visibility: Only accessible to Territory Admin and Super Admin roles.
- Functionality: Users can select the minimum valid duration for a session from the following discrete time values: 1, 15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds. Sessions lasting less than the configured duration will be excluded from core reporting metrics.

The Insight Dashboard provides various Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to help broadcasters and analysts measure audience engagement and station performance. The primary KPIs available are:
Broadcaster Groups & Stations
Where The Data Are Coming From
For Mobile Devices:
- Firebase is the main source, collecting data only for devices which app version is 7.8.0 or higher:
- There is a part a of Old AIM Android and iOS Mobile App included, as shown in the mobile subcategories;
For Automotive:
- Firebase is the main source, with mirroring (Carplay/AndroidAuto) data coming from mobile devices. Each “Mirroring” action generates a new “device_id”, so when the user listens to Radioplayer by mobile speaker/bluetooth and by mirroring are considered as different devices;
- Android Automotive OS Kineton apps.
_Connected TV apps, SmartSpeakers integrations, AndroidTV, SkyQ Apps are still coming from RP Old Events_
Score card:
- Sessions: Indicate the number of listening sessions. A session represents a listening instance, defined by the collection of a start and stop play event.
- Average Session Duration (TSL): Indicates the average duration of listening sessions by user devices.
- Total Time Spent Listening (TTSL): Represents the cumulative time spent by listeners engaging with the content.
- Average Quarter-Hour (AQH): The average number of active sessions within a 15-minute interval.
All data displayed in the KPI cards include a percentage trend in comparison with the previous reference period. This allows users to assess changes in listening behavior, audience engagement, and overall station performance over time.
Graphical Representations
The dashboard includes several visual representations of data to facilitate analysis:
- Day Distribution – Represents the temporal distribution of listening sessions, with granularity options per day. Users can visualize either the total number of listening sessions or the count of unique devices.
- Hour Distribution – Represents the temporal distribution of listening sessions, with granularity options per hour. Users can visualize either the total number of listening sessions or the count of unique devices.
- Station Distribution – Represents the percentage distribution of the selected stations within the filter. This visualization allows users to analyze the relative performance of multiple stations in terms of listening trends.
- Country Distribution – Displays the geographic distribution of listening activity, allowing users to analyze listening trends across different countries.
- City Distribution – Represents the distribution of listening activity across different cities, providing insights into local audience engagement and station reach within specific urban areas.
- Geographic Distribution Map – Represents listening activity visually on a map, providing a clear overview of audience distribution across different regions and cities. This helps broadcasters identify key markets, track listener density, and understand geographic listening behavior.
- Daily Station Distribution – Represents the daily contribution of listening activity for each selected station, allowing broadcasters to analyze station performance over time.
- Device Percentage – Breaks down listening sessions by device category.
- Device Distribution – Represents the detailed distribution for each device category, including the method of listening. This breakdown allows users to analyze engagement levels and platform preferences across different device types.
- Daily Device Distribution – Represents the daily usage trends of different device categories, showing how listening habits evolve over time. This metric helps broadcasters understand which platforms are most frequently used daily and track shifts in device engagement.
These KPIs and visualizations enable users to derive actionable insights into listening behaviors, helping broadcasters refine content strategies and improve user engagement.

Scorecard
- Sessions : The total number of listening sessions. A session starts when playback begins and ends when it stops (min. duration 60 s).
- Reach : Count the number of listeners, where each listener is identified by a unique device that tunes into a station. If a listener tunes into 3 different stations within a day, week, or month, it will be counted three times. In case of unavailable data, it is recommended to resize the selected time interval. The maximum selectable time range is 90 days.
Each KPI includes a percentage trend comparing data with the previous period, helping users monitor audience behavior, engagement, and station performance over time.
Visual Data Representations
- Trend Distributions : The chart shows the average sessions (or reach) by hour of the day, comparing weekdays (Monday–Friday) and weekends (Saturday–Sunday). It highlights differences in user activity patterns between workdays and weekends, showing peak hours and overall engagement throughout the day.
- Day Parts Distribution : This pie chart shows the distribution of listening sessions by time of day within the selected time period. The sessions are grouped into four time blocks: morning, afternoon, evening, and night, highlighting which parts of the day users are most active in listening. This breakdown provides a clear view of user behavior throughout the day, helping to identify peak listening periods.
- Stations & Programs: Provides insights into station and program performance, helping assess the effectiveness of different broadcasts.
- Top 50 Most Listened-To Songs : Highlights the 50 most popular songs across stations, offering insights into audience music preferences.
- Top 50 Most Listened-To Artists : Displays the 50 most played artists, helping broadcasters and the music industry understand audience trends.
On-demand
Scorecard
- Total on demand session : Number of listening sessions (streams). Unlike live sessions, there is no minimum listening duration for each episode.
- Total podcast consumption : Number of streaming sessions and the number of offline sessions, identified as the number of downloaded episodes.
- Reach : Count the number of listeners, where each listener is identified by a unique device that tunes into a station. If a listener tunes into 3 different stations within a day, week, or month, it will be counted three times. In case of unavailable data, it is recommended to resize the selected time interval. The maximum selectable time range is 180 days.
Each KPI includes a percentage trend comparing data with the previous period, helping users monitor audience behavior, engagement, and station performance over time.
Visual Data Representations
- Podcasts Charts : Top 1000 podcasts by listening sessions, including station info and the number of active episodes (non-expired).
- Most Subscribed Series : Top 1000 podcasts ranked by number of subscriptions received during the selected period, including additional information about the associated station.
- Most Listened Episodes : Top 1000 most-listened episodes, with related information such as podcast and station details.
- Daily Listeners Distribution : This graph shows the total daily distribution of users who listened to a podcast broadcast by a station.
- Episodes Streams Distribution : This visualization displays the distribution of episodes downloads or strems over time, allowing users to select the granularity of the data by day, week, or month.
- Episodes Downloads Distribution : This visualization displays the distribution of episodes downloads or strems over time, allowing users to select the granularity of the data by day, week, or month.
- Total Consumption Distribution : This visualization shows the total podcast consumption over time, representing the combined number of downloads and streams. Users can adjust the data granularity by selecting a daily, weekly, or monthly view.
- Subscriptions Distribution : This visualization displays the distribution of podcast subscriptions over time, allowing users to select the granularity of the data by day, week, or month.
To ensure accurate data and real-time reporting, broadcasters must provide metadata to the Radioplayer backend via Now Playing updates and/or schedule updates. Podcasts will only appear if they are linked to one or more stations within the selected filters. Providing complete metadata enhances the accuracy of insights and optimizes audience engagement strategies.

- Vehicle Brand Mix : Represents the distribution of the station's listening sessions across specific automotive brands, highlighting core hardware partner platforms.
- Where Cars Listen : Visualizes geographic telemetry data to map regional audience concentrations and localized hot spots.
- Listening by City : Ranks specific municipalities by session volume while illustrating the underlying technology mix used in each market.

- In-Car Radio Listening Flow : Tracks the brand’s daily in-car sessions delivered via DAB, FM tuner and Connected-car IP to highlight consumption patterns across its fleet.
- Brand Portfolio Distribution : Represents the share of listening sessions across the vehicle brands in the same group portfolio, highlighting the selected brand’s relative weight.
- Model Radio Performance : Ranks the brand’s vehicle models by listening sessions, showing which models drive the most in-car radio engagement.
- Radio Platform by Model : Breaks down each vehicle model’s listening sessions by radio delivery platform (DAB, FM, IP).

User Journey
Scorecard
- Total Favourite Active Subscriptions : The total number of active subscriptions to stations since January 1st, 2025. This value represents the balance of users who add a station to their favourites list minus those who remove it.
- Average Stations Favourite : The average number of stations marked as favourites by each user. This can be interpreted as the “length” of the user's favourites list.
Each KPI includes a percentage trend comparing data with the previous period, helping users monitor audience behavior, engagement, and station performance over time.
Visual Data Representations
- Favourite Stations : The top 50 stations based on the total number of overall subscribers.
